Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Mount Ayr Community school board voted to approve the sharing contract offered by the Clearfield school board. The contract would allow Clearfield students to choose to attend the Mount Ayr Community school district for their high school education. Under the plan, students who have completed eighth grade can choose this summer to attend high school in the MAC district. The decision made for the coming year is binding for the rest of the student's high school education.

Minor problems with telephone service also were reported by Contel staff.

When lightning burned out a central box on the computer system used at Hawkeye Bank & Trust in Mount Ayr about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, "old system" machines had to be brought out.

After being the christening gown for 84 children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the late Anna MEYER, the "hand-me-down" is still considered special and is being worn with pride by family members. One of the most recent babies to wear the gown was Hans Grant LARSON, son of John and Diana LARSON of Mount Ayr. He was christened by the Rev. Father John ZEITLER at a May 17 ceremony held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Mount Ayr. Godparents for Hans were Diana's sister, Clara Rose FREDERICK, and husband Karl.

Ringgold County Beef Queen Kris RICHARDS made the presentation to the JACKSONS at the hospital Monday afternoon.
