New lighting was in place around the courthouse square in Mount Ayr this year, purchased by the Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce with funds from a cookbook sale. Each of the light poles around the inside of the square was decked out in grenery and ribbons and lighted wreaths were hung on corner light posts.

Appearing at the half-time of the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, TX, Monday will be Andrea LARSEN and Lacey MEESTER, members of the Mount Ayr Community high school drill team.

Breadeaux Pizza of Mount Ayr announced recently that Tuesdays will be the day that local groups and organizations can earn some money for their programs. According to Breadeaux Pizza manager, Barb DRAKE, 10 percent of the sales on Tuesdays will go to the organization who helps with serving.

Community Grocers, Inc. held a holiday drawing giveawy for Christmas recently. Shirley WALLACE of Benton won a 19" color TV Tuesday.

Lynn's Sinclair held a coloring contest of the holidays recently. Winner Shelby WAMBOLD, 10, of Grand River colored a picture of a Sinclair dinosaur along with several other children. WAMBOLD received a colossal Christmas stocking stuffed with toys and games. WAMBOLD is the daughter of Tim WAMBOLD and Judy LILLY of Grand River.
