Ringgold County had another birth of a baby this week - but this time it wasn't in the Ringgold County
Hospital, as was the case last week. Holly Kay KARR was delivered in the driveway of Annabell KNIGHT about
five miles south of Mount Ayr by the baby's father, Danny KARR, at about 5:45 a.m. Saturday morning. The mother,
Brenda KARR, and the baby were then brought to Ringgold County Hospital instead of Decatur County Hospital,
where the couple was originally headed. Mother and daughter were released to go home after about 24 hours
in the hospital. Holly KARR weighed seven pounds, 15 1/2 ounces, and was 19 inches long. She has an older
sister, Karissa.
Three Mount Ayr Community high school FFA chapter members were named Iowa FFA degree recipients at the state
FFA convention in Des Moines last week. names as new Iowa FFA degree winners were seniors Amy WALKUP, Robert
MARTIN and Dustin WILEY. Amy WALKUP is the daughter of Dale and Sharon WALKUP of rural Redding. Robert MARTIN
is the son of Howard and Shirley MARTIN of rural Mount Ayr, and Dustin WILEY is the son of Dan WILEY and
Linda PICKERING of rural Mount Ayr.
Ami PATEL, a senior at Mount Ayr Community high school, was presented the Arion award by the Mount Ayr Lions Club.
