Mount Ayr Record-News

Thursday, November 23, 1989

Kasey Dredge, Mount Ayr Record-News

Tricia SHIELDS was crowned 1990 Ringgold County beef queen and Ann WERNER was named the county's Elanco Cow Gal when the Ringgold County Cattlemen's and Cattlewomen's Associations held their meetings. New directors were also named: Ken SMITH, John STEPHENS, Kyle SHAHA, Doug CAMPBELL, Ed JOHNSTON and Jim WERNER.

Hans SOKOLOWSKI, a 65-year-old native of East Germany presently living six miles southeast of Mount Ayr, was interviewed about his thoughts on the revolution going on in eastern Europe. SOKOLOWSKI keeps in contact with a sister and friend in East Germany by telephone. In early November it was announced that East Germany had the right to leave the country through any border crossings.
