Mount Ayr twins Jenny and Jody SHIELDS are going their separate ways after recently graduating from college. Jenny is working as an occupational therapist and Jody as a television reporter for a Des Moines television station.

Seven Ringgold county area students were among the 452 undergraduate students graduated from Northwest Missouri State University:

Blockton - Christina STROBURG, BS in elementary education.

Ellston - Tricia SHIELDS, bachelor of technology degree.

Kellerton - Randall JACKSON, BS in government and English.

Maloy - Jill TAYLOR, BS in elementary education.

Mount Ayr - Brian COOK, BS in agricultural business; Jody Ann CROSS, BS in elementary education; and Chad HUNT, BS in secondary education in vocational ag.

Graduates of DMACC this spring were Nicole L. DENNEY, Mercy Nursing program; and Michael HYMBAUGH, machine drafting program.

Over 200 guests signed the register at the 90th birthday anniversary party for Bessie JONES PERRY held May 29 at the Mount Ayr Golf & Country Club.

Two new Kellerton businesses were welcomed to the county with ribbon cuttings this week. Keith's Barber Shop, owned by Keith ADAMS is a new business, as well as the Kellerton Cafe.

Eleven years of participation in the state high school rodeo finals came to an end for the Steve TAYLOR family of Mount Ayr this past weekend. For 11 years the family has spent Father's Day weekend at the state rodeo finals. This year Jamie TAYLOR was named all-around girls winner and took the titles in four state events. All together, Jamie, Shelly and Jill TAYLOR have won 22 saddles in high school rodeoing and over 100 belt buckles.

Eight letter winners are providing a wealth of talent for the MACHS Raiderette softball team this summer. They include Cindy WALTERS, Tracy HENRY, Teena SHIELDS, Brandi LININGER, Jill DENNEY, Laura HURMENCE, Amy VARDAMAN and Tara GROVES.

Diagonal's Maroonettes softball team raised their record to 10-0 in play this week. Cindy GOODALE pitched a three-hit shutout at Bedford in the first game of the Diagonal tournament. Amber SOBOTKA pounded a home run, Courtney GARRETT hit a triple and a single, and Billi GOODALE hit three singles.
