A shipment of 49 matured pheasants for distribution in Ringgold county, by the Iowa State Conservation Commission, arrived Saturday in Mount Ayr.

Harold FOLTZ of Mount Ayr purchased the 160 acre farm held in the estate of Margaret J. ROBINSON, deceased, at public auction sale at the farm last Friday afternoon. FOLTZ made the top bid of $14,400 for the property located four miles north of Mount Ayr.

Dale HERRINGTON, Mount Ayr Community high school instructor and coach, was elected Lions governor of District 9-C at the annual convention which closed Tuesday in Mason City. The new 1959 governor succeeds Fred NANCE of Bayard in serving 43 clubs in southwest Iowa.

Royce DAVIS successfully defended his title in the Mount Ayr Handicap Golf Tournament by beating William CORLL in the finals, 2 to 1, in a match played Monday night on the local course.

A robbery Wednesday night of last week at the Mount Ayr Produce netted theives $335. According to Billie FINCH, owner, who discovered the loss the following morning, the money was taken from a drawer which had been pried open. The manner in which the building was entered is undetermined according to sheriff Warren A. DRAKE, who investigated the robbery.

Loyd HUDSON, who has been head of the vocal music department at New Hanover high school, Wilmington, NC for the past four years, has been appointed assistant professor of music and chairman of the department at Wilmington College. Mr. HUDSON is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter HUDSON of this city.
