Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

The late Mike E. MOSER, who was reared in Mount Ayr, was one of 44 Americans who died in "Operation Rescue Hope' 1992-94. MOSER died March 14, 1994 while serving as a gunner on an AC 130 gun ship in support of the ground troops in Somalia. He was on an airplane whose only cargo was guns and ammunition. According to word received by his parents, Grace and Henry MOSER of rural Mount Ayr, the plane had discharged six shells and the seventh one malfunctioned, resulting in eight of the crew of 14 being killed.

The motion for a new trial by defendants in a case dealing with the common areas at Sun Valley lake was denied by Judge Darrell GOODHUE in a ruling filed las week in Ringgold County district court. Judge GOODHUE also awarded an additional $1,200 in legal fees and additional costs for the hearing on the matter against the defendants in the case -- Clinton W. ANDERSON, Wendell J. SOLLARS and Sky View Financial, Inc.

A final hearing in the case deliniating the common areas that are to go to the Sun Valley Iowa Lake Association is still to come in the case, with several hearings held in the past year to try to tie up the loose ends.

Mount Ayr Community high school's Raider marching band brought home a division I rating from the state marching contest in Council Bluffs Saturday.

Nial BELZER, the new assistant manager, began work at the Place's Discount Store in Mount Ayr this week.
