Army Private Maurice E. Hoffman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Olin V. Hoffman was awarded at graduation a special diploma and letter of commendation.

A new pastor is now serving the Mount Ayr Lutheran Church. He is Dr. George Vogel of Greenfield, who served the Greenfield church for many years and is now retired.

Cash and checks totaling $331.76 were taken from the safe at the Andy Johnson Chevrolet Company, located on Highway 2 between the hours of 7 p.m. Friday and 7:15 a.m. Saturday.
