JACKSON were among the projects mentioned in honoring the community's activity through the years.

It was one year ago that Mount Ayr vicinity welcomed Po QUACH and her two sons and three daughters from VietNam. They came Nov. 3, 1979 to southern Iowa where they were united with part of they family, another son of Po's, Hung TRAN, his wife and four children who earlier had come to Lenox.

When Loren HICKERSON of Iowa City, formerly of Mount Ayr, retired after 40 years of service to the University of Iowa an interview appeared in the publication "Spectator." HICKERSON had founded the publication 13 years ago and the staff asked HICKERSON to interview himself. HICKERSON came from an interesting and talented family, all reared in Mount Ayr.
