Four Mount Ayr Community high school FFA members received their Iowa Farmer degrees at the state convention in Des Moines. They included Kyle RICHARDSON, Michael BAKER, Chad DRAKE and Amber TAYLOR. The award is the highest state award available in the FFA program.

Mandy J. JOHNSON of Mount Ayr, daughter of Scott and Cindy JOHNSON, was named a state of Iowa scholar. Scholars rank on average in the top 3% of their graduation classes and have an average composite 29 on their ACT or 1,300 on their SAT scores.

Hans G.LARSON, son of John and Diana LARSON of Mount Ayr, is the first from the area to win first place in the Iowa State Wrestling AAU Championship tournament held in Cedar Rapids April 2. He is a MACHS sixth-grader.

Winners in the annual Ringgold county master corn and soybean contests, sponsored by the Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce, were ELLIOTT Farms of Mount Ayr, SACKETT Farms of Mount Ay, Alan IBBOTSON of Tingley, and FAUBION Farms of Blockton.
