The 26th annual F.F.A. Parent-Son Banquet served Friday evening in the high school gymnasium was enjoyed by 250 paents, friends and members of the host organization. Officer of the chapter and R. E. HAUPTMANN, advisor, occupied places at the head table. The invocation was given by Joe BROWN, treasurer, and Ronnie WOOD, president, served as master of ceremonies.

Four Ringgold county officials announced their candidacies for nominations, subject to the will of the Republican voters at the primary election on June 1, 1964. They were Albert DRAKE of Middle Fork township, candidate for county auditor; Earl REYNOLDS, Jr. of Mount Ayr, candidate for clerk of district court; Maurice HANSON of Grant township for supervisor, term commencing January 1965; and, Raymond FROST of Middle Fork township for supervisor, term commencign January 1966.

Mrs. Royce DAVIS was re-elected and installed as president of Chapter CK, P.E.O. during a meeting held Saturday in the home of Mrs. Glenn LESAN. Other officers re-elected were Mrs. Chas. J.LESAN, vice president; Mrs. C. L. NICHOLS, recording secretary; Mrs. Herman FENNEMA, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Ed. J. CARR, treasurer; Mrs. Milton HENDERSON, chaplain; and, Mrs. Harold FOLTZ, guard.

Ainslee E. HICKERSON of Ardmore, PA will speak at the annual commencement exercises of the Mount Ayr Community high school scheduled for May 18. Mr. HICKERSON, who a few years ago was selected as the outstanding publisher of weekly newspapers in Pennsylvania, is president of Philadelphia Suburban Newspapers, Inc., which publishes a daily newspaper and several weeklies. Mr. HICKERSON graduated with the class of 1923 from the Mount Ayr high school and four years later received a degree from the School of Journalism of the State University of Iowa, Iowa City. He immediately purchased the Philadelphia suburban newspaper properties which have prospered and expanded under this direction. Mr. HICKERSON is a son of Mrs. Carl JACKSON of this city.

David STEWART, 17-year-old son of the Arlo STEWARTS of Mount Ayr, suffered facial lacerations and a fractured right arm in a one-caar accident Monday morning. The accident happened about 1:30 a.m. on the Diagonal-Clearfield road approximately one-fourth mile west of Diagonal. According to Sheriff Elbert STRANGE, who investigated, the youth was traveling east in a 1955 Ford station wagon when he hit a hole in the road, lost control of the car and struck a cement culvert.

Professor Carl R. BUSCH of Drake University, Des Moines, will visit the Grand Valley high school in Kellerton on march 20, as part of the Iowa Visiting Scientist Program which is headquarterd at the State University in Iowa City. Dr. BUSCH, assistant professor of physical science at the university, whose field of special interest is geological field trips, will give the students accurate and up-to-date scientific knowledge which is so fundamental for today's citizens.

Six Mount Ayr Community high school trackmen will compete against some of the state's best high school athletes in teh Federation Indoor Track meet to be held March 21 in the Drake Fieldhouse in Des Moines. Coach Chet ROED will enter Eugene RICKER and Milt STONE in the 50-yard dash and Rick DEFENBAUGH in the high and low hurdles and a mile relay team. Members of the mile relay team are RICKER, Dave STILL, Duane MILLER and Steve JOHNSTON. Last year RICKER placed in the 50-yard dash and DEFENBAUGH in the high hurdles.
