Keith ROGERS is now sole owner of the Rogers Oil Compnay in Mount Ayr, he having purchased this week the partnership interest of his father, Geo. W. ROGERS, who is retiring from the business.

Homer H. BESSE was nominated Friday by President Harry S. TRUMAN for the position of postmaster of Kellerton, and his name, with three other Iowans, was sent to the senate for confirmation.

Jean LIGGET, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry LIGGET, of Diagonal, received the degree of master of music at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL on Monday, June 16.

Thirteen men went Friday afternoon to the George PUGH farm and cultivated corn for Mr. PUGH who several months ago suffered a broken leg in an accident, and who is unable to do his farm work. The men who performed the good neighbor act were R. L. FRY, Tom SHIELDS, Bill SHIELDS, Lynden TAYLOR, Seth CAMPBELL, Jack PINE, John THOMAS, Lawrence KIMBALL, Arthur DEIBERT, Kermit MILLER, Roy SHEUMAKER, Carroll SMITH and Homer SMITH.

Mrs. Virgil MILLER and Mrs. Frank KIMBEL went Sunday morning to Ames, where this week they are attending the fifth annual session for cook-managers of the Iowa school lunch program.

Five hundred and sixty-one persons from Mount Ayr, other towns and cities in Iowa, and former residents from the nine states, signed the guest book when the Rhoades Funeral Home opened for inspection of its new chapel and redocorated funeral parlors last weekend.

Miss Roberta BURLINGMAIR, of Primghar, assumed the duties of technician in the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr on Monday of last week. Miss BURLINGMAIR was employed to fill the vacancy of technician caused by the death of Robert HARTWOOD, who was killd April 28, in an automobile accident west of Mount Ayr.

Five Ringgold county 4-H grils have been selected to sing in the state 4-H chorus, according to word received at the county extension office. They are Jenesse OVERHOLTZER, Tingley; Betty JOBE, Tingly; Sue HORNE and Mary SWANK, Mount Ayr; and Louise WALKER, Kellerton. The chorus will appear at the state 4-H girls' convention which is being held in Ames this week.
