Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa

The Ringgold County Safety council has elected the following officers: J.B. Willey, president; J.M. Anderson, vice-president; E.S. Long, secretary and Vera F. Dickens, treasurer.

Ringgold county has been set up as a separate Scouting district of the Southwest Iowa council of the Boy Scouts of America. Ernest Defenbaugh was elected district chairman.

R. E. Drake was included among DeKalb corn hybrid corn dealers and producers honored at a banquet Friday by the Shenandoah Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Drake, winner of the Ringgold county corn yield contest with 120.86 bushels per acres of DeKalb corn, was awarded a trophy and billfold for his accomplishments.

Jack Moore, of this city, and Vera Austin, of Osceola, were united in marriage December 7, at Bethany, MO, with the pastor of the Methodist church performing the ceremony. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. John Austin, of Osceola, and Mr. and Mrs. Art Moore, of Mount Ayr. They will make their home in Mount Ayr, where he is employed in Baldner's Cash Market.

BIRTHS:

  • DIAGONAL - Mr. and Mrs. Velmer Stephens are the parents of a daughter, born December 8. She weighed eight pounds and has been named Barbara May.
