The first baby in Ringgold County Hospital in almost three years was born unexpectedly here early Monday morning. Noah Eugene LARSON was born to John and Debbie LARSON, teachers in the Mount Ayr Community school district, at 12:05 a.m. Noah weighed in at eight pounds, five ounces and was 20 1/4 inches long. He is welcomed by two brothers, Dustin and Grant. Plans were for the baby to be born in Des Moines, as the obstetrics unit is not being used in Ringgold County Hospital because of problems with finding physician coverage for births here. Noah decided to come quickly when labor began at 10:30 p.m. Sunday evening, and making it to Des Moines for the delivery was not an option.

Observing a 45th birthday anniversary makes some people sad. Their friends honor them with black balloons and other paraphernalia. Not so with the Ringgold County Hospital which was 45 on Wednesday, April 17. The community as a whole and the staff celebrate and give thanks that there has been a fine hospital in the area for that long.

First official steps in what could lead to the dissolution of the Grand Valley Community school district into surrounding districts were approved by the Grand Valley school board at its regular meeting Wednesday, April 10. The board approved a resolution to establish a school district dissolution commission to prepare a proposal of dissolution for the district to include a division of the assets and liabilities of the Grand Valley district. The resolution for voluntary dissolution came on an unanimous, if regretful, vote.
