Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Mrs. Lyle DULANY assumed her duties November 1 as assistant in the county extension office. She fills the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mary SWANK, who became effective October 31. Mrs. DULANY, a resident of Mount Ayr, was previously employed in the office of the Rideta Electric Cooperative, Inc., and during 1946 and 1947 was employed part-time in the extension office.

Neighbors cut and sawed wood Wednesday of last week for John BUCK of Washington township who returned recently from he University Hospitals in Iowa City. Men who assised were Cecil KELLER, Junior BROWN, Claire FOLTZ, Wallace LOUDON, LaVerne KLEJCH, Norman KLEJCH, Lawrence LOUDON, Paul DOLECHECK, Lawrence ZARUBA, Charles SKARDA, Virgil HARRIS, John TRIGGS, Merritt TRIGGS, J. E. HILLEBRAN, Wayne FOLTZ, Glen FOLTZ, John IRVING, Harlan EMBREE, Darrell RILEY, Myron BURDETTE, Elmer STARMER, Eldon RICKER, Gerald GARNER, Alfred ADKISSON and Velmar BIRD.

The men were served doughnuts and coffee by Mrs. BUCK, Mrs. STARMER, Mrs Lawrence LOUDON and Mrs. Cora BIRD.

Rita Anne WARIN of Maloy and Bob JONES of Kellerton have been selected to receive the Mount Ayr Lions Club trophies, which are awarded annually for outstanding 4-H record books. Parents of the youth are Mr. and Mrs. John D. WARIN and Mr. O. Z. JONES.

A Spotted Poland China boar, one of the top hogs in the state show and sale at Boone, was recently sold by J. W. TRIGGS & Sons to a breeder near Indianola for $115. The TRIGGSES also recently sold three good bred gilts to the vocational agriculture department of the Jamesport, MO schools.

  • November 10, a daughter, Bobbi Jean, to Mr. and John W. TAYLOR, Diagonal
  • November 11, a daughter, Peggy Jo, to Mr. and Mrs. John DEVINE, Delphos
  • November 11, a son, Thomas Clark, Mr. and Mrs. George LANCASTER, Blockton
  • November 15, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Ray BAKER, Sheridan MO
