RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, March 16, 1995

Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Sharing the superintendent with Mount Ayr Community schools was off Wednesday night but on again Thursday night in two meetings of the Grand Valley Community school board. At the board meeting Wed., march 8, a lengthy discussion was held concerning continuing the sharing contract with the Mount Ayr Community district for the superintendent. Following the sometimes emotional discussion, a consensus opinion was taken that the Grand Valley district would discontinue sharing superintendentdent Phil BURMEISTER for the coming year. During the discussion, superintendent BURMEISTER noted that according to the current contract, the Mount Ayr Community board should have been informed of a change in the contract prior to March 1. In an emergency meeting held Thursday night, the board looked at the matter again in a short meeting and voted to continue the sharing with the Mount Ayr district for the 1995-96 school year.

Michael FARIS, an eighth grader at Mount Ayr Community high school, will be making his third trip to the state Geography Bee when it is held in Des Moines Friday, April 7.
