Kasey Dredge, Mount Ayr Record-News

A busy day of activity in Mount Ayr Saturday was led off with a concert and soup supper sponsored by the Ringgold Singers, the county area chorus. Carols were sung with the audience as well as group numbers and solos as part of the annual concert. Andrew DAVIS directed the chorus and Sherri HYMBAUGH was accompanist for the concert held in the United Methodist Church in Mount Ayr.

Hugh WHITSON was elected to a three-year term on the Ringgold County USDA Farm Service Agency committee in county committee elections held recently.

A Mount Ayr Community student has been named a finalist in the Know Your Consitution contest sponsored by the Iowa State Bar Association. Alana JOHNSON and teacher Pam CROSS will attend the luncheon Friday, January 7, in West Des Moines where a special guest will speak.

The Raiders made their conference debut Tuesday night with a 77-44 win over East Union in Mount Ayr. Friday night the boys lost a heartbreaker on the road, 55-51 at Bedford.

The girls fell to East Union 68-33 on Tuesday night, then lost to Bedford 76-54 on Friday night.

The Raiders had championships from Kyle HAYSE and Hans LARSON and second place finishes from three other wrestlers as the team took third place in the Central Decatur tournament Saturday.

The Diagonal girls fell to Mormon Trail 57-33 in a Bluegrass Conference contest to see their season mark slip to 2-4 and their conference record go to 1-1.
