A director of finance for the Ringgold County Hospital will be sought, it was decided at an April 13 board meeting held in the hospital conference room. The one taking these responsibilities until recently was Nancy L. RIGGS, who accepted a new assignment in Des Moines.

Four Ringgold county students were among outstanding Future Farmers of America from across the state who received the "Iowa Farmer" degree at the 59th annual Iowa FFA leadership conference in Des Moines Friday. Kevin JACKSON, Brian WILLIAMS and Jeff SICKELS of the Mount Ayr Community high school FFA chapter and Debra HARRIS of the Grand Valley Community high school received the award, the highest degree conferred on members by the Iowa Association FFA.

A Mount Ayr woman became the third person here to be hooked up to the Lifeline system, a monitoring system which provides a method of communication for help for people who live alone. Bernice CAMPBELL of Mount Ayr was shown how to use her new help summoning necklace by Marsha JONES of Winterset, where the service is headquartered at Madison County Hospital.

Elsa FRITZ, the mother of exchange student Folkard FRITZ, will be visiting Mount Ayr for a week beginning Monday, April 20. Mrs. FRITZ who is a laboratory technician, will have an opportunity to meet people in the community at a community potluck at the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr Wednesday, April 22. There will be a short program about Germany following the dinner.

Vicki AUSTIN of Diagonal recently participated in the largest cake show held in the midwest, bringing home a first place trophy. Her advanced wedding cake division entry in the Metro North Cake Show, held in Kansas City, MO, won the advanced sweepstakes trophy for first place in the division.
