After a number of years of working toward the project, the city of Mount Ayr will have a new wastewater treatment plant. The final price tag on the project may come in over $4 million when everything is added up, but the council gave the go ahead for the project at its regular meeting Tuesday.

The school board had met in several closed sessions to discuss real estate. The district will pay $32,000 for an area of property to the south of the overflow school parking lot and to the west of the bus barn.
