Carroll M. (Doc) CAMP, known as the "Dean of Employees" of the Iowa Southern Utlities Company in the Mount Ayr district, retired the first of September after completing 48 years of conscientious service.

Loren IBBOTSON of Tingley and Milton HENDERSON of Mount Ayr were unopposed for re-election to the board of education of the Mount Ayr Community school district at the first regular fall election held Monday. Chas. A. HETZEL was also unopposed as a candidate to succeed himself as treasurer of the district.

Three rural schools in the Mount Ayr Community school district were sold Saturday at public auction for $697. Lotts Creek No. 2 (Caledonia) was sold to Orville Van WINKLE for $147; Lotts Creek No. 5 (Watterson) was purchased by Ted HIGHTSHOE for $200, and Poe No. 6 (Saltzman) went to Sam ADAMS for $350.00. Dennis OWENS was the auctioneer and Kermit MILLER served as clerk.

L. W. (Joe) GROSS, a member of the Iowa Highway Patrol for the past 14 and 1/2 years, has tendered his resignation, effective as of today (Thursday) to accept the position of zone manager for Investor Diversified Services, In. Mr. GROSS will serve as zone manager in Ringgold county and he and his fine family will continue to make their home in Mount Ayr. in April 1946 Mr. GROSS became a member of the Iowa Highway Patrol and at the time of his resignation he held the rating of senior officer.

The five directors of the Grand Valley Community school district were re-elected Monday. Orr ALLEN was also re-elected as treasurer. Votes were cast for candidates as follows: Norman ELSWICK, 6; Dean JACKSON, 31; John Van LAAR, 26; Roy JONES, 6; and John GROSE, 9. ALLEN received 71 votes for the short term and 70 votes for the long term.
