Veronica Ray, Mount Ayr

Fifty-eight seniors of the Mount Ayr high school -- 27 girls and 31 boys -- will receive their diplomas at the commencement exercises to be held May 20. Giving the address will be Professor James DUNCAN, Drake University.

Class members include:

Verla ADAMS, Jacque BEAMAN, Patrica BEARD, Dale BENSON, Betty BLACK, Lee BRAND, Dean BRYAN, Merritt BUCK, Charles CANNON, Ann CARR, James COOK, Jo Ann DAILEY, Russell DAVENPORT, Evelyne DRAKE, Geraldine GALLOWAY, John GARITY, Lyle GILLILAND, Richard GOLDNER, Welda GREENMAN, Ruby HALL, Teddy HIGHTSHOE, Glenn JOHNSON, Kenneth JOHNSON, Lloyd R. The commencement exercises of the Maloy high school will be held May 15. Jack HARR from the Northwestern Missouri State College, Maryville, MO will be the guest speaker. Diplomas will be presented to seniors: Jack Allen COMER and Jack Lewis SMITH.

At Redding, commencement will be held May 16 with Dr. Roy A. CHEVILLE, acting president of Graceland College, Lamoni, the speaker. Members of the 1952 graduating class are Marvin AUSTIN, Jack BAILEY, Marvin LUNGREN, Harold MURPHY, Lucille PRITCHARD, Doyle PYLE, Darrell SHAW and Marilyn STAATS.

Mount Ayr high school juniors David CULVER, Douglas SWEARINGEN and Louis WILSON were selected to represent Ringgold Post No. 172, American Legion at Hawkeye Boys State at Camp Dodge.

Miss Mary HORNE, accounting clerk in the Mount Ayr office of the Iowa Southern Utilities Company, has been promoted to the position of district accountant, effective as of May 1. Miss HORNE has been an employee with the company since August 1843.

Sharon BROWN of Lamoni and Ann DRAKE of Mount Ayr won tops honors in the Get-Out-the-Vote contests, sponsored by the Ringgold County Farm Bureau Women's committee.

On fox bounty claims filed in the office of county auditor Roy LEPLEY during the month of April, Ringgold county paid out $492. The law provides for payment of $2 on cubs and adults alike. The largest single claim was filed by Merle BUTLER of Benton for 133 foxes. During the same period, wolf bounty claims in the amount of $138 were filed. The law provides for payment of $4 for each cub and $10 for each adult.

  • May 10, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Jack CALHOUN, Grant City MO
  • May 10, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Charles BOWMAN, Clearfield
  • May 13, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Lafayette HULL, Shannon City
