RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, August 15, 1991

by Chanse Hall, Mount Ayr Record-News

Plans for the Ayr Days celebration in Mount Ayr September 6-8 are well underway with three days of Scottish fun planned.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Willey of Mount Ayr received word that their grandson, Staff Sergeant Kenneth Mohr, of Eagle Grove, received the Bronze Star in a ceremony held in Germany. Mohr was awarded the medal "For exceptional Meritorious acts against Saddam's Republican Guard." The incident took place at Al Busayyah, Iraq when S/Sgt. Mohr came out from under his cover to intercept an Iraqi tank that was holding an allied tank under fire. Mohr was a Bradley Commander with the First Armored Division out of Germany serving in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm.
