NASA scrubbed the launch of the STS-113 mission, Peggy WHITSON'S ride home, less than four hours before its planned launch late Sunday evening. The problem -- a leaky oxygen line which supplies breathing air to the crew cabin. It's simple enough to repair, but the challenge was getting access to the area.

Ringgold county 4-H club has been honored by the Iowa Department of Transportation with a Governor's volunteer award. The Sunshine Workers 4-H Club of Redding received the award at as pecial ceremony held in Ankeny recently. Leaders of the club are Bobbi BAINUM and Vickie JEANES. The 4-H club was recognized for its help in picking up litter along Highway 169.

Former Mount Ayr Community football coach Dave STILL will be inducted into the Iowa Football Coaches Association hall of fame at ceremonies during the state championship football playoffs. STILL will be honored at halftime of the Class 4A title game in the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls Friday, Nov. 22. STILL started coaching in 1967 at Tarkio College. From there he moved to Mound City and was head football coach there for 10 years, taking one team to the state playoffs. In the fall of 1979 he moved to Mount Ayr, where he coached until 1997.

Hickory Grove Advent Christian Church cordially wishes to announce the ordination service for Pastor Ed SHIELDS on Sunday, Nov. 17.

Another successful season of Mount Ayr Community Raider football came to a close recently with a 4-3 record and a 6-3 season mark. A total of 17 seniors led the way this year and will be missed next year.
