Willie CORLL won the Lenox open golf tournament Sunday as Mount Ayr golfers completely dominated the championship fight. Russell DAVENPORT was the runner-up and Royce DAVIS and Bob ROE were the other two semifinalists in the championship fight.

Mr. and Mrs. George KNIES celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday afternoon, May 20, at the family residence, 913 Exchange Street in Keokuk. Miss Maude E. DUFTY and George KNIES were united in marriage May 16, 1906, in the DUFTY home near Kellerton by Rev. C. F. ERFFMEYER of McPherson, KS, a cousin of the bridegroom.

Fred L. TRIMBLE of Kellerton will serve as supply pastor of the Diagonal Methodist Church, succeeding the Rev. W. A. WHITENACK who will continue his school work.

Barbara WITTMANN of this city has been adjudged winner of the "Get-Out-The-Vote" essay contest in the girls division of Farm Bureau District No. 9, announcement of which has been made by Harry STOREY of the legislative department of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation. A freshman next fall in the Mount Ayr high school, Barbara is the daughter of Col., Richard C. WITTMANN who is presently in Korea and Mrs. WITTMAN who is making her home in Mount Ayr during the absence of her husband. As a district winner, Barbara will be awarded an expense-paid trip to Des Moines next spring when the state legislature is in session.

Marla EURITT and Mike BUTLER were credited with catching the largest fish at Kid's Fish Day held Sunday at Fife's Grove north of Mount Ayr. Among the girls, Lora Lynn BEAMAN caught the first fish and Elvin SWANK and Richard COWELL tied for "first catch" honors among the boys. The second largest fish were caught by Sharon and Ken HUTCHINSON and Connie RICHARDS and Roger STANLEY won the "honor" of having caught the smallest fish.

  • June 01, a daughter, Evelyn Kay, to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene McALEXANDER, Beaconsfield
  • June 10, a son, David Clifford, to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence CLARK, Lamoni
  • June 11, a son to Mr. and Mrs. Elva FLETCHALL, Redding
  • June 12, a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Russell MORRIS, Lamoni
