Those who will exhibit in the swine classes are Jon O'NEAL and James SMITH of Tingley, R. C. RUSH and Allan HEGGS of Kellerton, Mary Sue BASTOW and Hollis RINEHART and Royce RINEHART of Mount Ayr. Ronald SHIELDS and Bob REASONER of Tingley will exhibit sheep, and Bill DAUGHTON of Kellerton will exhibit in the baby beef division.

About 1,135 pupils in the Mount Ayr Community school district will "report for duty' in the various schools in the district on Monday, Sept. 1. High school pupils will report to the gymnasium in the Mount Ayr building for the first session. Elementary pupils will go to the respective home rooms in their own attendance center. Sixty-seven teachers are now under contract to teach this fall in teh various schools in the district.

Ninety-three percent of the vote case at the special election, held Monday in Mount Ayr, was in favor of granting a franchise to the Ringgold County Mutual Telephone Company for the purpose of operating a telephone exchange for a period of 25 yars. A total of 70 votes was cast, 65 in favor of the proposition and five against. Judges and clerks of the elecion were Herman FENNEMA, C. E. HOLLOPETER, Charles HARVEY, Harold DAVIS and Hugh FOSTER.

The subscription rate of the Record-News will be increased 50-cents per year -- from $3 to $3.50 -- effective on all subscriptions expiring on or after September 1, 1958. The single copy rate will be increased from seven cents to eight cents. The increase of slightly less than a penny a week per subscriber becomes necessary on account of constantly increasing costs of production which, of course, include the new postal rates.
