Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, June 13, 1940

by Chanse Hall, Mount Ayr Record-News

The home of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. POOR in Mount Ayr was the setting for the wedding of their daughter, Mary, to Philip L. GEISSE, son of Mrs. A. L. SARCONE, of Des Moines, on June 9. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. H. CABLE of Mondamin, former pastor of the Methodist Church in Mount Ayr. Attendants of the couple were Marie OGLE, of Blockton, and Konrad KUHLMAN, of Des Moines.

Members of the Boy Scout Troop 169, who went Tuesday to the Lake of Three Fires near Bedford to spend the night, were Walter HUGGINS, Bob TEALE, David IRVING, Bill JOHNSTON, Wendell ROBISON, Bob SHELDEN, Loyd JUDSON, Donald KIDNEY, Donald RICHMOND, Harold GOLLIDAY and Curtis CHRISTIANSEN. They were accompanied by Scoutmaster Alvin LAMOREAUX.

Ava Marie BUTLER, music instructor at the Roland High School, received high recognition this year in her music. Five events were entered in the state music contest, three of which received Division I ratings. This is the first year since 1928 that Roland has received a superior rating in a state contest.

REDDING - Dessie TRIGGS, of Mount Ayr, has rented the former Redding Oil Company station building and is getting it ready for a sandwich shop and will handle ice cream.
