Several new events are planned when the Mount Ayr Chamber of Commerce presents the Ayr Days 1992 celebration Friday through Sunday, September 11 - 13. The Scottish heritage events will be held again with a parade following with the theme, "Doctor Up For Ayr Days," featuring retired and retiring doctors in the Mount Ayr community.

Joni Annette YEAROUS, daughter of Jack and Jean YEAROUS of Mount Ayr, was united in marriage with Steven Duane WOOLLUMS, son of Perry and Pauline WOOLLUMS of Kellerton, at 4 p.m. April 4, 1992, at the Mount Ayr First Lutheran Church.

Hilary SWANK, 18, of Hollywood, CA, has a part in the movie, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," that is currently playing in Des Moines. Hilary is the daughter of Steve and Judy SWANK of Spokane, WA (formerly of Ringgold county) and the granddaughter of Kenny (sic, should be James) and Frances CLOUGH of Kellerton and Marion SWANK of Mount Ayr.

A Mount Ayr Community high school math teacher is participating in a National Science Foundation sponsored project. John LARSEN is part of a project entitled, "The Implementation of the National Council of Teachers and Mathematics Standard in Discrete Mathematics Project." This three year project began with a leadership training session at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA in July.
