Harry A. HETZEL, who recently retired after serving Mount Ayr and vicinity with Standard Oil company products for 37 years, was honored at [a] dinner the evening of October 15 in Osceola. He was awarded a watch by the company in recognition of his valued service throughout the years.

H. K. LORIMOR of Libertytownship was elected as a member of the Agricultural Extension Council to succeed Dale BLACK, at a meeting held Friday evening at Wishard Chapel. During a meeting held the same evening in the Caledonia schoolhouse, Mrs. Laurance BISHOP of Lotts Creek township, who is serving an unexpired term, was re-elected to the council for a two-year term.

Howard SMITH, 39, of Mount Ayr and A. J. MARKEE of Chillicothe, MO were seriously injured Monday evening about 5:15 p.m. when their autos collided at a county road intersection five miles southeast of Leon on the Leon-Pleasanton gravel road. SMITH suffered a deep cut on his face and an injury to his spine that rendered him paralyzed from the chest down. MARKEE suffered painful chest injuries and fractured ribs. Mr. SMITH, assistant secretary of the Ringgold Mutual Insurance Association, had just finished adjusting windstorm losses in the community when the accident happened.

The Kellerton Church of Christ will observe the 75th anniversary of its establishment with a special service on Sunday, Nov. 15. A former minister, John HUNTINGTON of Carthage, MO, will bring the message.

Final arrangements have been made for the inaguration of city mail delivery service in Mount Ayr, according to postmaster Marion E. EURITT. First deliveries will be made Saturday by William R. BRYAN and Wayne McGEHEE, who were recently appointed as carriers of Route No. 1 and Route No. 2, respectively. The 151 patrons one the rural routes in Mount Ayr will be served by the city carriers.

Jim BURGE, president of the Mount Ayr Businessmen's Club, expresses appreciation of members for the efforts of several organizations and indiviuals in obtaining city mail delivery service in Mount Ayr.
