Of the 28 seniors of the class of 1912 of the Mount Ayr high school, 14 were present for the 50th anniversary reunion held July 1 in the Legion hall in Mount Ayr. Those present were Bernice DRAKE GRAY, Mary CLAYTON KELLEY, Zella CAMPBELL SWARTZ, William MAY, Ada THOMPSON KILROY, Cleo SULLIVAN AGEE, Vesta MERRITT ANDERSON, Mary REGER KIRKHAM, Edward WILLEY, Mae WARRICK DRAKE, Alex G. MOFFATT, Lois PARKER OWEN, Asa W. HUGGINS and Vernon DRAKE. Also present was present was one of their teachers, Mrs. Floy R. BLISS.

Neighbors went July 2 to the John IRVING farm in Washington township and picked up hay for Mr. IRVING, who was released recently from the hospital after submitting to surgery. Those who assisted were John BUCK, Myron BURDETTE and Skylar, David ALLEN, Art ALLEN, J. W. TRIGGS, Merritt TRIGGS, Marvin TRIGGS, Howard WHITTINGTON, John WHITTINGTON, Elmer STARMER, Eldon STARMER, Eldon RICKER and Eugene, Herbie BASTOW and Aubrey KIRKPATRICK. Also, Roe GREIMANN for Loren WOLDRUFF, Cecil SALTZMAN for Amos RYAN, Wilbur FARIS, Loren CAMPBELL, Phillip FOLTZ, Claire FOLTZ, Wayne FOLTZ, Cecil KELLER, Randall BROWN, Bob McCREARY and Jim, J. E. HILLEBRAN, Lynn NEWTON and Nick TERWILLIGER.

Walter L. BRADLEY, who was recently elected commander of Ringgold Post No. 172, American Legion, assumed his duties Monday evening. He succeeded Ike McGEHEE. Other officers are George JACKSON, first vice commander; Leonard SHEIL, second vice commander; Jimmy MAHAN, adjutant; Linn SHEIL, finance officer; Charles W. LAWHEAD, chaplain, and Lyle DULANY, sergeant-at-arms.

Garry WION of Beaconsfield, discus hurler on the Iowa State University track team during the 1962 spring season, has been awarded a letter. WION was an outstanding athlete of the Mount Ayr Community high school, from where he graduated in the spring of 1960. In the discus toss, he holds the local school record of 150', 4".

Ed HUTCHINSON of Diagonal was included among the freshmen who were awarded numerals in baseball this spring at the University. Freshmen are not eligible to participate in varsity athletics, but HUTCHINSON is regarded as a fine prospect for the varsity team in 1963.

Marcia Mae DALBEY, daughter of the L. A. DALBEYS of this city, has been appointed designer of Tex-Sis girls wearing apparel, sportswear and novelties in San Antonio, TX, according to Harold FRANZEL, president of Tex-Son, Inc., manufacturers of children's clothing in the Alamo City.

Two farm girls, Jinny THOMAS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald THOMAS of Mount Ayr, and Beverlee BARNES, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick BARNES of Lamoni, have been selected to represent the Ringgold County Soil Conservation District in the 1962 "Queen of Conservation Contest."
