Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, January 12, 1956

Carl J. RIGGS, cashier of the Tingley State Savings Bank, announces the purchase of the long-established C. E. BOSWORTH Insurance Agency, effective January 1, 1956.

J. W. YOUNG, manager of the Rideta Electric Cooperative, has tendered his resignation as a member of the Ringgold County Hospital board of trustees. To fill the vacancy, the board has announced the appointment of J. T. NICHOLS, farm operator in Rice township, and former member of the Ringgold county board of supervisors.

Newly elected officers of the Farm Bureau Young People's organization are: Albert POTTORFF, president; H. K. LORIMOR, vice-president; Maryann GEPNER, secretary; Shirley LESAN, treasurer; and Francis HACKER, reporter.

The 1955 Citizenship Award of the Chamber of Commerce of West Des Moines, has been presented to Amos LEE supreintendentof schools in that city. Mr. LEE served the Manning schools 19 years - four years as principal and 15 years as suprerintendent - before going to West Des Moines in 1942. He is married to the former Ethel HICKERSON, daughter of Mrs. Carl JACKSON, of this city.

George VICKER, of Diagonal,is chairman of the newly appointed Extension Famly Committee for Ringgold county. Other members of the committee are Mrs. David ALLEN and Mrs. L. H. GRAY, Mount Ayr; Mrs. Roy COOPER, Kellerton; Mrs. Ansel SAVILLE, Blockton; and Mrs. Darrel WILCOXSON, Lamoni.

Dwayne OVERHOLTZER, son of Mr. and Mrs. [illegible, portion of newspaper torn away] promoted to assistant manager of the Kinney Shoe Store in Council Bluffs.

Re-elected as officers of the Ringgold County Extension Council are John WARIN, chairman; Elbert WATSON, vice-president; Mrs. Cliff NICHOLS, secretary/ and Mrs. Roy COOPER, treasurer.

Wanda SWIGART, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis SWIGART, of Leon, formerly of Tingley, and Marvin LESAN of Kellerton, were united in marriage Sunday at the Methodist Church in Des Moines. The Rev. Wm. MILLER, of Des Moines, former pastor of the Kellerton Methodist Church, officiated at the service. Mr. and Mrs. LESAN will make their home on a farm near Kellerton.
