Damage to several electrical appliances in Diagonal occurred Friday, Nov. 5 as the result of a power surge that took place in the early afternoon hours.

Dr. Keith MADISON has accepted the position of radiologist jointly with the Ringgold and Wayne County hospitals.

Postal carrier Dan SHEIL of Mount Ayr was presented with a pin and certificate honoring his 25 years of service with the United States Postal service this week.

The Raider Reading program at Mount Ayr Community elementary school received a grant from the South Central Iowa Community Foundation recently. Helen TERRY presented a check for $1,570 to Joan JACKSON, the elementary librarian.
