Richard SALTZMAN received Monday by express from Macon, MS., five swarms of Italian bees to add to his apiary at the farm in Poe Township. The bees were shipped in cages made of screen netting each swarm in a separate compartment with the queen of each swarm occupying a small compartment around which the bees were clustered.

Alice NUTTING, senior at Albion College, and her colleague had the honor of recently winning the Michigan state debate tournament and five of six debates in the national tournament in Madison, WI. Miss NUTTING is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. E. NUTTING, of Homer, MI., and a siser of Mrs. Darrell STANLEY, of this city.

MALOY - Newly elected and installed town officers are Warren MILLER, mayor; Frank CARR, clerk; and, D. R. SHAY. James STANLEY, Guy DUGAN, James NOLAN and John WARIN are councilmen.

REDDING - Supt. B. E. LUCAS has accepted the job of superintendent of the Gravity school for the coming year.

TINGLEY - John CLOUGH was elected mayor of Tingley at a recent meeting of the town council. The council is composed of Perry COCHRAN, Dr. H. D. SHEUMAKER, E. A. SALTZMAN, John HANSON and C. W. LENT. D. L. McCLURE was re-appointed town clerk and Ward SMITH was hired as street commissioner.

The clarinet quartet, composed of Duane ROUSCH, Opal HILLEBRAN, Lucy WEEDA and Dorene MANBECK, which took part in the music contest at Mount Ayr last week, won superior and will participate in the music contest at Fairfield. Other entries were the girls' sextet - Lola BLUNK, Roberta JOHNSTON, Ardean EIGHME, Lousie LONGCOY, Bernice GARLAND and Jean BRECKENRIDGE - rated excellent; and the trombone solo by Paul KIRBY recieved a good rating.

Supt. W. K. SAVILLE has been re-elected head of the Tingley school for next year. All the present grade teachers - Velma HEATON, Mari Loyise RUSK, Mabel BRADLEY and Josephine EIGHME - were also re-elected.

  • NORTH MIDDLE FORK - Relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald DORSEY, of Greeley, CO., have received announcement of the safe arrival of a baby girl, Alive Jean, in their home on March 13.
  • DELPHOS - Mr. and Mrs. Leo LINKEY are the proud parents of a baby girl, born Thursday.
