Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr Record-News

Mount Ayr Community high school's FFA chapter sent a team to the district soils judging contest in Knoxville Tuesday. The team took fifth place and a gold medal, advancing to state contest. Members of the team included Kyle HAYSE, Ryan BAILEY, Scott COOK and Michael INLOES>

More than 300 people stopped by the Ramsey farm at Lesanville Saturday during the first fall festival to be held there.

Over 100 walkers took part in the 26th annual CROP walk held Sunday, Oct. 5, at Poe Hollow Park east of Mount Ayr. Beautiful weather brought out a large representation from a number of churches in teh county for the event. While tabulations are still being counted, it is anticipated that approximately $3,000 to $3,500 was raised for Church World Service.

A new ministry group has settled in Ringgold county recently giving people the chance to attend and experience a retreat in a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Healing Hearts originated in Clarinda in 1996 to help women with different issues. Whole-Hearted Ministries' purpose statement is "to renew the mind, rekindle the spirit, restore the body and rebuild the church through God's word and prayer." Located south of Diagonal among 20 acres of timber off County Highway P33, a cabin will be used to offer extended intensive retreats for individuals, groups, couples, families and church leadership teams.
