Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Two grandnephews of Alberta MICKAEL are now in jail under bond of $1 million apiece and a third suspect is in jail with no bond in California pending extradition proceedings in the murder of the former school teacher here September 22. Arrested this week in Des Moines was Harold Evans TODD, 21, brother of Ronnie Dean TODD, 26, who had been arrested by authorities in Des Moines last Tuesday. Arrested in San Diego County, California was Charles Lloyd TYLER, 34.

Paths have crossed many times for this week's new teachers at MACHS, Mark and Sue LARSEN. The LARSENS began their lives together in grade school. Both were born in Harlan and graduated from Elkhorn-Kimbalton. Then the two ventured on to college at Iowa State University with Mr. LARSEN majoring in mathematics and Mrs. LARSEN in art. She later received her master's from NWMSU in special education.

Roger O. BROWN of Torrance, CA, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy BROWN of Lamoni, received third degree burns over 80 percent of his lower legs, Friday, October 3, when an explosion and fire occurred. According to relatives, the fire happened in the kitchen of his home as he was using a paint solvent. BROWN grabbed a large fire extinguisher and put out fire on his clothing and in the room. He is expected to be confined many weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. Alois BOGOTAJ are at home at 609 E. 22nd Street in Newton instead of New Orleans, LA where they were married recently. Mrs. BOGOTAJ is the former Rowena DERICKSON who taught school in Mount Ayr.

Alan SMITH, who has served as news editor of the Mount Ayr Record-News for the past six months, has been named managing editor of the paper effective Oct. 1. Jack R. TERRY, who has held dual positions as editor and publisher, made the announcement.

Queen for the MACHS homecoming festivities was Teri KRAMER, who was crowned during halftime ceremonies at the Mount Ayr-East Union football game Friday night. Teri is the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Robert KRAMER of Pratt, KS and is active in a numberof MACHS groups.
