Farmers and interested persons heard about the production of 400 pounds of beef per acre on renovated pastures last Wednesday at the Grundy-Shelby Experimental Farm near Beaconsfield. The occasion was the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the experiemental farm. Nearly 500 persons were in attendance to enjoy the program and a barbecue, a courtesy extended by the banks of the area.

Kenneth HATCHER, manager of the Ringgold county ASC office in Mount Ayr since May, recently tendered his resignation to accept the position of manager of the ASC office in Indianola. Mr. HATCHER'S home is in New Virginia in Warren county.

Ten students from the Saint Ambrose College Division of Nursing, Marycrest College and the Saint Anthony Hospital School of Nursing, Rock Island, IL., have been chosed from a group of 34 candidates as finalists in the annual contest to name the "Queen Bee" of the Saint Ambrose College homecoming celebration scheduled for October 10, 11, and 12. Five Marycrest College students included among the finalists, one of whom is Rita Anne WARIN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. WARIN of Maloy.

Darrell F. REED was elected president of the Mount Ayr Businessmen's Club at the regular meeting of the organizaiton. He succeeds Roy LEPLEY, who has capably directed the activities of the club during the past year. Jim BURGE and J. E. HORNE were re-elected first vice-president and treasurer, respectively.

Eric GILBERT, 16-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse GILBERT of Milwaukeie, OR and formerly of Mount Ayr, was the winner of the Ford Motor Company's 1958 Industrial Arts Award Program.
