In municipal elections Tuesday, Merrill PERRY was elected mayor of Mount Ayr over incumbent Steve FETTY. Richard ELLIOTT and Jay WATSON were elected to the city council.

Winners of the Tingley Halloween fun night parade were: children singles - Jamie MILLER (Jack in the Box) and Bryan MILLER (say no to drugs); children's doubles - Kyle and Kristin FORD (ghost buster and slimer); adult singles - Jan FORD (shocking Tingley); adult doubles - Brenda WILKEY and Denise GOLLIDAY (hammin' it up for Halloween); groups - Brendon and Shayla GREENE and Annie and Gentry JOHNSON (sweet on Tingley); pets and vehicles - Gary, Robin, Holly Stefan and Sorothy and Dopey WURSTER (The Wizard of Oz); motorized vehicles - Tyler EVITT and Chyann McGLOTHLEN (small) and Doug, Justin and Jolene FROST and Howard and Jenesse TULL (large); floats - Regan MASON, Brad and Jana JOHNSON and Dustin and Derick WILEY (Is this heaven, no it's Tingley).

Kevin O'MAILIA of Mount Ayr is being treated for a bullet wound to his lung at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. O'MAILIA waas hit while traveling through the tailgate and through the cab of the pickup. Two Decatur County men are being held for the shooting.

Presidential physical fitness award winners at Mount Ayr Community elementary school are Adam DREDGE, Joey HYNEK, Cameron ADAMS, Melissa EIGHMY, Christi SMITH, Tara GROVES, Laura HURMENCE and Kristen McKERN.
