Ringgold County Hospital didn't have to wait long at all to have the first baby of the new year in 1992. Some years it has been months before the first baby, but this year Kellan Jeffrey Farnam was born Friday, January 3 at 6:12 p.m.

Eldon Still was named chairman of the Ringgold county board of supervisors for 1992 when the board held its first meeting of the new year.

Mount Ayr has a new mayor since Steve Fetty was sworn into office Thursday, January 2. Fetty took the oath of office from Merrill Perry, who did not seek re-election as mayor.

Grand Valley school district will no longer offer its own junior high or senior high school program beginning in the 1992-93 school year.

The Robert Burns Society's Robert Burns supper was held Saturday at the Mount Ayr Golf and Country Club to celebrate the birthday of the famous Scottish Poet, born in Ayr, Scotland, which gives Mount Ayr its name.

Russ Hensley has been named to the Class 1-A academic all-state football team for 1991.

Lee Faris has been elected to the regional vice president position on the Iowa Cattlemen's Association executive board during the recent ICA convention.
