During the year 1960, the Record-News recorded the births of 307 babies, seven more than the previous year. Thirty-five more boys than girls, two sets of twins (boys) and five adoptions were included in the list.

Funeral services for three members of the Loren J. SCOTT family of Monroe township were held yesterday afternoon in Kellerton. Loren J. SCOTT (70); his wife, Mae LONG SCOTT, and their son, Perry Wayne SCOTT, 36, were killed Sunday when the car in which they were riding struck a bridge on the Will ROGERS turnpike north of Miami, OK. They were returning to their homes after visiting in the home of their daughter and sister, Mrs. Henry GOFORTH of Tulsa, OK. The elder Mr. SCOTT was driving the car when the accident happened. The SCOTTS were extensive land owners and the parents and son, who was not married, resided on adjoining farms three miles northeast of Kellerton.

Junior high and grade school music students of the Mount Ayr Community school won two first division and three second division ratings in the Southwest Iowa District junior high music contest held Saturday in Corning. Collus LAWHEAD and Mary Jane MERCER received I ratings on their trombone solos and Phillip WEBB, Pat IRVING and Brian HUNTER were awarded II ratings with their cornet solos.

Principal and Mrs. Vance E. GEIGER will leave tomorrow (Friday) from Creston for Detroit, MI, where he will attend the 45th annual national convention of high school principals, which convenes Saturday morning. The GEIGERS plan to return Wednesday to Mount Ayr.

Ken WILSON paced the Mount Ayr bowlers to four wins in six games in the South Central Iowa Traveling Bowling League Sunday in Lenox. WILSON hit 1,163 pins in six games for an average of 194. He had three games of 200, including a 236, 213 and a 203.
