Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Wishard Chapel, which is located five miles north of Mount Ayr on Highway 169, will observe the 75th or diamond anniversary of its establishment on Sunday, Nov. 11. Guest speaker for the afternoon program will be Dr. Merrill SUMMERBELL, superintendent of the Creston District. The church was dedicated on November 13, 1887, with a large crowd in attendance.

Dan CARR has been elected to membership in Cardinal Guild, or Student Senate, a student governing body at Iowa State University in Ames. Dan was one of two freshmen chosen to represent the 1,500 freshmen members of the Men's Residence Association.

The Fairway Cleaners in Mount Ayr will re-open for business on Saturday, Nov. 10, with D. C. (Dud) WATTS as proprietor.

Neighbors and friends picked corn Thursday afternoon for Rex BROWN of the Blockton vicinity. Equipment provided included eight pickers, three elevators and other machinery.

The Liberty Belle 4-H Club will observe its 20th anniversary at Wishard Chapel on November 13, and all former members and leaders have been invited to attend as guests of the present members. Margaret DAVENPORT serves as president of the Liberty Belles 4-H Club and Mrs. Virgil CANNON is the leader.

Seventy-six percent of the voters of rural Tingley township favored establishment of a fire district when the special proposition was presented at the general election Tuesday. The unofficial vote was 80 in favor and 25 against the proposal.

Clair O. RHOADES, 65, a Mount Ayr mortician for approximately 40 years, died suddenly Friday night about 10:30 p.m. of a circulatory failure in his home in Mount Ayr. He had been in declining health for several years.

Beauty Haven was opened May 16, 1960, in Bedford by the former Betty HILL, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David HILL of Tingley. Later, she was married to Glen TULL, son of the Alvin TULLS of Tingley, who became associated with the business in June of 1961. The shop, open six days week, also employs Mrs. HARMON and Mrs. CORNELL.
