RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, January 08, 1981

Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Ringgold county's two oldest residents each reach milestones during January this year. Oscar FERBER will celebrate his 100th birthday anniversary on Monday, January 19, as the county's oldest man. The oldest woman in the county and the oldest resident born here is Mrs. Fannie SEATON, who celebrated her 101st birthday anniversary January 4. They both reside at Clearview Home.

Ringgold County Hospital's first baby of the new year, Kary Dawn MITCHELL, was born Friday, January 2. Kary had the distinction of being delivered by her grandfather, Dr. Duane MITCHELL. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Steve MITCHELL. Kary is the MITCHELL'S second daughter.

Members of the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr are happy that some Ringgold county resident reads his Guns and Ammo magazine carefully. This last week the resident brought a Christmas card to the home of Pastors Phil and Doris KINTON, telling one of the KINTON'S daughters he had found it tucked inside his magazine when he received his mail. The card, addressed to the KINTONS, was delivered unopened. Inside was a check for $1,000 for the building fund of the church. The KINTONS didn't find out who made the special delivery, but expressed their thanks that the reader found the card in his magazine and brought it to their home.

Named to the Mount Ayr Park Board to replace Mary Sue WEBB, who recently resigned, was David HIGHTSHOE of Mount Ayr. He will serve out Mrs. WEBB'S unexpired term on the board.

Rev. Ron DAVIS, for two years pastor of the Mount Ayr and Tingley United Presbyterian Churches, has accepted a call to become the senior pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Fresno, CA.
