RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, February 08, 2007

by Chanse Hall, Mount Ayr Record-News

When the Diagonal Community high school homecoming activities were held in Diagonal Friday night, Whitney Wolf, daugther of Dick and Cindy Wolf, was crowned queen, and Tony Wiley, son of Melody WIley and Rick and Sherry Wiley, was crowned king.

The Mount Ayr Record-News received an award from the Iowa Newspaper Association at its convention in Des Moines Friday night. The Record-News received a third place certificate in the community service contest as part of the 2007 better Newspaper Contests sponsored by the INA.

Ringgold county has one of Iowa's most haunted locations. That's what "The Iowa Road Guide to Haunted Locations," a new book from co-authors Chad Lewis and Terry Fisk claim. Tedrow Cemtery southeast of Mount Ayr is one of the 75 sites around the state to make the book by the authors, who have written similar books for several surrounding states.
