RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, March 07, 1996

Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

A black bear cub was born at the Triple "S" Exotic Ranch north of Mount Ayr and she and her twin have been sold to individuals. The bears are only one of the exotic animals that live at the ranch, which also offers a drive-through tour. The ranch is owned by Bob and Barb STRANGE.

A Mount Ayr student is a member of the on-air staff at KIGC radio at William Penn College in Oskaloosa. Caleb COUTS, a freshman music performance major, is a disc jockey for the station, which serves the campus and Oskaloosa community with entertainment, promotion and involvement. COUTS is the grandson of Merrill and Sue PERRY of Mount Ayr.

Within three days (Feb. 6-8) Maxine SICKELS of Mount Ayr celebrated an 88th birthday anniversary, had an auto accident as she was backing out of a parking place on the Mount Ayr square and fell at P. M. Place's Stores Co. and broke a hip. After escaping injury in the auto accident, she went on to fall which put her first in Mercy Hospital in Des Moines where a plate and screws were inserted in the hip area. Then she was transferred to the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr for a week's stay. She is now recuperating at Mount Ayr Health Care Center.
