RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, May 05, 1966

by Chanse Hall, Mount Ayr Record-News

Kenneth Burright was elected president of the Mount Ayr Lions Club during a meeting of the civic organization held Tuesday night of last week. Mr. Burright succeeds Merrill Perry, who capably filled the position during the last year.

Duane Miller established a new record in the high school broad jump at the Drake Relays Saturday as he won the event with a leap of 22-7.25. Winning a gold medal and having his name entered as a Drake Relays record holder are the highest honors accorded to a trackman.

Connie Morgan was elected president of the Future Teachers of America for the 1966-67 school year during the regular meeting held April 27.

At a meeting of the Ringgold County Board of Education held Monday, the board voted to accept a proposal to consolidate with the counties of Clarke, Decatur and Union. Thomas J. Moore of Creston will serve as county superintendent of each of the four counties. The vacancy in the county superintendent's office was caused by the resignation of Vera F. Dickens.
