R. F. BAKER of Johnson, a plant breeder for the Pioneer Seed Corn Compnay, and Mrs. BAKER will present a colored slide lecture on Africa Saturday evening at the Mount Ayr Country Club. A former resident of Ringgold county, Mr. BAKER has a son, Lee, who is presently operating the Baker Farm near Beaconsfield.

Walter PRICHARD went yesterday to Ottumwa, where he has assumed the duties as assistant manager of the Hy-Vee Food Store. For the past three and one-half years Mr. PRICHARD has been an efficient and trusted employee of the local Hy-Vee Store.

Attorney Frank C. LEWIS suffered a light stroke of paralysis Tuesday night of last week at his home in Moutn Ayr.

Jerry Dee DULANY suffered a gunshot wound accidently inflicted Sunday afternoon while hunting on the game area preserve, southwest of Mount Ayr. Jerry and his friends, Don SNEDEKER, Mac COSS and Ronnie DEFENBAUGH, were preparing to return to Mount Ayr when CROSS' .22 calibre rifle was accidently discharged. The bullet entered DULANY'S right leg just above the knee, passing between a tendon and the bone without inflicting serious injury. Jerry was taken to the Ringgold County Hospital where he remained a patient until yesterday.

The Tri-Hi-Y of the Mount Ayr high school is collecting gifts for residents in the Mental Health Institute in Independence, the Men's Reformatory at Anamosa, the state penitentiary at Fort Madison and the State Hospital at Woodward.

  • A daughter, born Nov. 27, to Mr. and Mrs. Franklin SMITH, Mount Ayr.
  • A daughter, Sheryl Elaine, born Nov. 29, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert WHEELER, Perry.
  • A son, Randy Lynn, born Nov. 29, to Mr. and Mrs. Maurice HUNT, Redding.
  • A daughter, born Dec. 2, to Mr. and Mrs. Wesley JONES, Des Moines.
  • A daughter, born Dec. 4, to Mr. and Mrs. Donald WICKER, Kellerton.
