Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, June 04, 1964

Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr Record-News

Albert DRAKE and Doyle SCOTT, Republicans, and Elbert STRANGE, Democrat, were winners of part nominations for the county offices at the primary election held Monday.

The Class of 1914 had 10 of 13 living members present at their 50th class reunion. The group spent time sharing old snapshots and family photos with one another.

Supt. C. Arthur HANSEN presented the championship trophy to the Mount Ayr Community High School Raiders golf team, winner of the fifth annual Raiders invitational golf tournament. Receiving the trophy from Mr. HANSEN was Ken MARKLEY. Other members of the team are Pat IRVING, John McFARLAND and Ivan GERARD.

Great progress towards the beautifying of the grounds in Lewis Park is reported by the board. The members wish to express their sincere thanks to Jim MAHAN, proprietor of the Mahan Granite Co., Women's Federated Club, Narcissus Club, Hawkeye Lumber Company, Iowa Telephone Company, Ringgold County Hospiatl, the Jaycees and Band Boosters for their donations.

Larry Ernest BUELL, 17, and Bobbie CREVELING, 16, of Ellston, escaped injury Friday night when a pickup, driven by BUELL, struck several head of cattle, which had wandered on to the road, went over an embankment, turned over and landed on its wheels at the side of the road.
