RETOLD OLD NEWS

Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
Thursday, November 3, 1960

Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

The TAYLOR sisters -- Roma, Twila and Dixie -- daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd TAYLOR of Diagonal, will compete in the district Rural Amature Talent Show on Saturday, Nov. 5, in Red Oak. The girls will appear in a vocal trio specialty number.

Charles BASTOW of Poe township was elected president of the Ringgold County Farm Bureau during the annual meeting of that organization held Wednesday of last week at the country club. Mr. BASTOW, who will succeed W. E. KELLEY, will assume the duties of his office on January 1, 1961. Mr. BASTOW won over his opponent, Ansel SAVILLE of Blockton, by only a narrow margin. Other officers elected were Lee DAVENPORT of Diagonal, vice president; Duane TRIGGS of Mount Ayr, secretary and L. H. GRAY of Mount Ayr, treasurer. Candidates for the three offices, other than those elected, were Lee FARIS, Ivan RAINY and Frank DEEMER.

The Beacon-Ellston boys attained the ice hockey "hat trick" of scoring three goals as their junior high soccer team walloped Tingley, 14 - 7, Tuesday night. Mike GILES, Terry GREEN and Scott MOORE poured in a total of nine goals. Other BE scorers were Bob CREVELING, two; Larry GREEN, one; Ken MOORE, one and Ken WOOD, one. Roger TRULLINGER fought hard all the way for Tingley and scored three goals. Teammates Gary WEBB, Dennis MILLER, Jim McCREARY and Arthur ALLEN each booted one goal. Tingley was hurt by the absence from the game of Ken EIGHME, Bill ENGLAND and Craig RIGGS.
