Ringgold county's first murder trial in many years has been set back until August. The first-degree murder trial of Aaron HAYS, 21, of Creston, was set to begin Tuesday, June 8, but the date has been rescheduled to Monday, Aug. 9.

It's about time for another golfing record from Jay Lynn-O Tours and the group of local golfers are trying to outdo their record of golfing in five states in one day, set last year. Lynn RINEHART and Jay WATSON and their golfing buddies will be leading a trip that will see the golfers play nine holes of golf at each of six golf courses in six states on Thursday, June 17, which include Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas this year. last year they received mention in several publications around the midwest as well as some national exposure. That national exposure is guaranteed this year as a writer for "Golf Journal" will be one of the 12 golfers on the jaunt this year. Russ PATE of Dallas, one of the most widely published golf writers in the United States, will be going along for the jaunt to cover the story first hand.

Guy STINES, M.D. announced that the Family Practice Associates clinic in Mount Ayr will be closing effective Wednesday, June 30, due to the terminal illness of the owner.

Morgan DREDGE of Mount Ayr has been chosen by the Mount Ayr American Legion Auxiliary to attend the 54th annual session of the Iowa American Legion Girls State on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. DREDGE is the daughter of Duane and Meredith DREDGE of Mount Ayr.

Nolan HOWIE placed out of the top 10 individuals in the state Class 2A boys golf meet in Iowa City Friday and Saturday. HOWIE had an 86 on the challenging 72 par course on the first day of of competition to pretty much put him out of the race for the top 10 individual placings. He came back Saturday to cut his score eight strokes for a six over par 78. This made his score for the tournament a 164.

New ministers serving the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr are John and Ainslee BRILLO. The couple has come to Mount Ayr with their 19-month-old son, Ernie. The BRILLOS come to Mount Ayr after serving for several years in a pastorate in Bedford, KY.
