The county fair is to open Wednesday, July 7, 2004. A full schedule of activities is to begin Thursday, July 8, at the fair grounds north of Mount Ayr. A number of events are planned to take place on the US Bank stage in the commercial building Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the fair.

Ringgold County 4-H beef project members and their families enjoyed an evening of "Show Calf 101" at the Ringgold County Fairgrounds Wednesday. Those attending the beef project workshop were shown tips on grooming and fitting, clipping and showmanship. Andy DUGAN and Brian ENGLAND were the presenters for the evening.

The South Central Iowa Community Foundation recently awarded a total of $6,000 in pro-active community grants for the benefit of several Ringgold County organizations.

An 11-game winning streak came to an end this week for the Mount Ayr Community Raider baseball team. The Raiders saw their season mark go to 13-7 and their Pride of Iowa Conference record move to 6-4 with a week of wins over Corning and Bedford, followed by the streak breai
