Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

Nathan SMITH of Mount Ayr placed 17th in the nation at the finals for the National Citizen Bee in Washington, D.C. and was awarded the "Encyclopdia of American Social History" as one of the top 30 finishers in the country.

Ringgold county area students graduating from Drake University after the spring semester included: Carol L. BARKER of Diagonal, master of science degree in education; Rochelle A. MASON of Diagonal, master of science degree in education; and Mary K. OVERHOLTZER of Tingley, master of science degree in education.

At a recent ceremony in Des Moines, Mary MEYERS was presented the "Governor's Volunteer Award" from Iowa Governor Terry Branstad in recognition of the many hours she works and the miles she travels for the citizens of Ringgold County.

Becky DOLCHECK and Debbie LARSON, members of the Mount Ayr Golf and Country Club, combined to place second in a two-woman, best ball, golf tournament held at Corning June 26. They shot a 74.
