Lisa Wilson, Mount Ayr

When Iowa Test of Basic Skills and Iowa Test of Educational Development results were received for the 2001-02 school year, Mount Ayr Community school officials had plenty to be pleased about. While results have generally been good at the elementary school level, results at the junior high and high school level improved as well this year as new methods of presenting the tests were given.

Winners in the commercial divisions of the swine and sheep show at the Ringgold County Fair were Brenna SWANSON who showed the champion commercial gilt of the swine show and Courtney WEEDA who showed the champion and reserve champion commercial ewe in the sheep show. Cole WILLIS of Mount Ayr took top honors in both the new crop heifer and new crop bull classes in the 4-H and FFA competition at the Ringgold County Fair this year.

A big tomato weighed in at three pounds from a Ringgold county garden recently. The tomato plant was started from seed and then transplanted to the garden later. The tomato came from the garden of Debbie REPP of Mount Ayr.
